Upon returning to his rural Georgia hometown to attend his father's funeral, a man is disturbed to discover that his childhood friend has been kept locked in the basement by his abusive brother for nearly twenty years. Roy Clemens moved away from Haralson, Georgia many years ago, but when his father dies he must return to his hometown to make funeral arrangements and tend to the family store. Later, while attempting to deliver a package, Roy discovers that his childhood friend Sammy has suffered a most cruel fate over the previous two decades. Sammy's brother Harold is a bitter, drunken tyrant who has forced his blind younger brother into servitude, rarely allowing him any real contact with the outside world. Despite the fact that Harold's girlfriend Kathleen and best friend Earl don't particularly agree with the way that Harold treats Sammy, they continue to remain loyal to the abusive older sibling due in part to the fact that he has cornered the local microbrew market. As Roy does his best to ease Sammy's suffering and provide him with hope for a brighter future, old friend begin to reconnect over promising dreams of a brighter future. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I am not sure what other movie viewers are looking for in their films. Perhaps the other reviewers of this film were under the mistaken idea that this was going to be a horror film of the blood and gore variety. It is not that. The film does have an interesting plot and strong performances were given by the principle actors. The two child actors were not bad either.
Movie about the right and innocent children that we all start out as, and the wickedness and crooked thinking of adults that proves to be the ugly evil that dwells in men. Well told and an interesting look at life.
This movie was incredible Im a pretty tough guy but this movie moved me emotionally. Great story great script and excellant acting. If you get the chance watch this movie!!!!!!!
THIS MOVIE IS NOT SCARY OR SUSPENSEFUL LIKE THE MOVIE TITLE AND DESCRIPTION SAYS. THE ACTING IS GOOD. THE STORY IS OK. IT TAKES PLACE IN A "HICK" TOWN. IT'S ABOUT A BLIND GUY AND HIS PROBLEMS GROWING UP AND WHAT NOT. NOT THAT GREAT, BUT NOT THAT GOOD EITHER. HAS A FEW LAUGHS AND A "FEEL GOOD" ENDING.
There is a reason why there are no previews for other movies on this DVD - it's because no other studio, including the one that distributed this film, wants to be associated with this terrible production in any way.
Sadly this is a movie that tries to put our a sweet message of "it's not who you love, but whether you've loved at all." But the production got caught up in making the "hicks" so over the top it bordered on inbred insanity. Skip this film unless you are truly bent on punishing yourself for 90 minutes.
