I loved this movie for the reasons that other reviewers seemed to hate it so much; I loved the idea of sumperimposing modern sensibilities on the classic story, and I also loved the "rock music" score. The costumes and cinematography are amazing; it is a beautiful movie to watch.

After watching this movie I felt incomplete, but I grew more interested in the character which caused me to read a biography and become fascinated with her. I think that was the purpose of Coppola's work, by leaving the ending up to the viewer. Even though I enjoyed the movie, I think that more dialogue was needed and the ending was original but not fitting. The last years of Marie Antoinette's life were the most interesting but sadly the movie doesn't portray it. I felt that the transformation from the little dauphin to the queen was marvelous and I loved the music, it was original. I think that it seemed to get repetitive when they showed her waking up and they could have shown the repetitiveness of her schedule in a better way. They failed to show Marie Antoinette as a person who cared for her country.

This movie is visually beautiful! But, boring! I only watched to the end to see if she had an heir. The clothes, buildings, etc., were beautiful to see. The dialog and the music too modern.

The movie was unwatchable because someone had the half-baked idea of blasting modern background music in a movie that boasts "painstaking recreations of the look of the 18th century". The music was distracting, inappropriate, and annoying - it spoiled the whole movie experience which might have been better with different music.

ok so i am open to all sorts of movies, but this was so awful i could not watch it, i think i made it to the 20 minute mark. first of all, kirsten dunst is toooooo old to play marie antoinette. they had kirsten do silly things like breathe fog on the window and make a drawing, but it looks just dumb because kirsten is too old for that kind of stuff. she could have done the part, if she wasnt made to do that and many other immature things, like a little girl, when clearly she is not. ok, and where are the accents? some characters have them, others do not. its stupid. marie does not in this movie. bad directing. sometimes she looks right into the camera, and there is no effect planned. all in all, a horrible festering atrocity of a movie not worth viewing. good concept though, but no substance.

Totally ridiculous 18th Century fashion extravaganza/Star magazine version of Lady Antonia Fraser's rather fascinating recent biography of the tragic French queen. Really, Schwartzman as Louis XVI? LOL. And in this part, at least, I think Dunst is a wooden mannequin. Lady Fraser must have been grinding her teeth when she saw this fluffy confection of her serious biography, especially with the sometimes excruciating music. The Coppola family ought to stick to what they know about, not 18th C. French history crossed with MTV. Still, the clothes and architecture and gardens are wonderful to watch.

It's a good movie when you don't feel like moving or have much actual thought.

This movie seemed like nothing but a very long music video.
