A woman finds herself drafted into the battle of finding the perfect man in this romantic comedy. Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane) is a kindergarten teacher in her mid-thirties who is still dealing with the emotional aftermath of her divorce eight months ago. While her sisters, Christine (Ali Hillis) and Carol (Elizabeth Perkins), both think Sarah needs to start dating again, Sarah herself isn't so sure. Carol decides to force the issue by posting Sarah's photo and profile on an Internet dating site, and soon a number of seemingly eligible bachelors are sending her e-mails in hopes of a date. However, nearly every man she meets turns out to be a loser, with the exception of Jake (John Cusack), who is smart, good looking, and even brings along a dog for their walk in the park (though he doesn't tell her the pooch was borrowed for the occasion). However, Sarah also makes the acquaintance of Bob (Dermot Mulroney), the divorced father of one of her students, and she finds herself having to choose between two potentially worthwhile men. Meanwhile, Sarah's widowed father, Bill (Christopher Plummer), decides to give Internet dating a try, and lands himself a new steady in Dolly (Stockard Channing). Must Love Dogs is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Claire Cook. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Ok-this movie was like watching Gilmore Girls. Thats how bad the dialogue was...And why did both of these people have a dog around constantly, when neither of them actually owned one? I compare this to the equivalent of a Lifetime Network Movie-very cheesy! Not even as good as a chick flick.

Although this isn't the best movie I have seen, it isn't the worst either. It's one of those movies that would be good for a girls night together, complete with plenty of good ice cream and popcorn and of course boy talk!

Was an ok movie. Nothing to write home about. I really like these actors in this movie, however, this is not one of their better movies. Was not a good enough storyline for them. Would wait for this one on cable/dish network. Dont waste your money for a rental.

This movie totally sucked, a waste of my time if you ask me. The movie lacked any feelings of romance, and this movie is rated as a romance? Give me a break. Do yourself a huge favor and pass this movie by and rent something that actually moves you, this movie will bore you to tears, trust me.

Not annoying, not a waste of time, but this movie didn't add anything positive to my life either.

I am a HUGE Diane Lane and John Cusack fan, and was really looking forward to this movie. Unfortunately it was AWFUL! I thought the acting was horrible - the story line was forced, and there was no chemistry between any of the characters! It felt like I was watching a rehearsal rather than a real movie.

Awesome movie. Was a surprise. Ordered this chick-flick for my wife while I was away but thoroughly enjoyed it when we watched it together.

I thought this movie was really cute, although my husband gave it a so-so review. It is a chick-flick and that would probably explain the difference of opinion. About the only negative I would give is it is somewhat predictable.

The whole movie started out badly. A large family gathered around Sarah (Diane Lane), who was divorced a WHOLE EIGHT MONTHS, to encourage her to get back into the dating scene. Throughout the film, this meddling family was supposed to be charming, but I would have found them annoying in real life and told them to leave me the hell alone. Sarah ends up on an Internet dating site and meets Jake (John Cusack). They dated in a confused sort of way that some would deem as adorable (not me). My favorite part of the movie was when Diane Lane answered her own dad's (Christopher Plumber) personal ad. It was short, in the commercials, but still very funny. By far, the character I enjoyed most was Stockard Channing, who plays a woman Christopher Plumber is dating.
