Sure the idea shown here is great. That idea being that we should all cherish our freedom of thought and choice and avoid being confined by the strong will of society. However, the screenplay is a bit loose and incoherent. I see that point, but I didn't fall for the delivery. It's an OK movie. Since it won several Oscars, it may be worth 2 hours of your time. This is one of the best movies to come out of the 1970's. Jack Nicholson is fanatastic! This is a movie that never gets old and it has messages on so many different levels. Highly recommended. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

The ending leaves you completely unsatisfied. Till the last 5 mins of the movie I thought it was a good movie, but then the ending just slaps you in the face and I literally sat there after it ended in pure shock, like "Are you serious, that is the ending?!?" I can't tell you why cause that will spoil the ending, but you watch this movie and get to know the characters and I wanted a point to them being in the story and this ending just left me completely unsatisfied in that sence.
