But being a die-hard sci-fic fan I had to give this one a chance. Im glad I did, But this was not the terrific action adventure movie that some reviewers have stated. Most of the cast with the exception of THE ROCK is basically bit actors. But, the movie moves along at a decent pace, not at the slam bag that the game delivers, but adequate. The plot is not exactly original, a portal opens on Mars to another dimension and a team of Ranger types go to the recuse, when all communications have stopped. coming. In this case, will they save Earth and possibly the rest of the solar system? What do you think? .Is this movie worth the price of admission? Read More I too had high hopes, but they quickly washed away after the Rescue team was more interested in getting laid than saving the lab. I cant stand movies than set up a pretense of accuracy, then show incompetent characters who do stuff that makes no sense. A bio-lab with no quarantine area, doctors ticking their bare hands into contaminated flesh, and a doctor implanted with a wheel-chair for back legs, in a time when teleporation, warp speeds and a Mars colony is commonplace. The real kicker was the BFG gun: The Rock spends 30 seconds staring at it (I had time to watch ESPN) but when it comes time to use it he takes 2 errant shots. Even the first person sequence is stupid: aliens that were once cunning and invincible now get killed with one shot. Next time, someone should read the script before shooting the movie. Not even tough as you would expect the Marines to be. One of the Marine characters comes off as a disgusting, filthy sleaze-bag.
Doom is not worth the time. If you want a good video-game movie, rent "Resident Evil" (not Resident Evil Apocalypse). Resident Evil is a great horror movie with developed characters and suspense and action. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||
