I had the soundtrack on a 33 LP and played it everynight on my record player! My son & I watched it together and he loved it too. We watched it twice and I decided to BUY IT and have it for our collection.
The remakes do not compare to the original. The muscial score is fantastic! The story telling fabulous. In fact, one of the newer versions (not the one with Elijah Wood) my son did not like, it was boring and not a musical. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Oliver! remains one of the best musicals ever written, and this film version is exquisite in so many ways. The subtle characterizations, the social commentary that remains implied and thus not preachy, the songs, the choreography, Jack Wild's and Oliver Reed's performances are all top-notch. Moreover this film can serve as an introduction for elementary school children to Charles Dickens. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

My parents and I would watch it everytime it came on cable, sometimes over and over. It is a classic. It is a musical, and I am not one for musicals, but this one moves so quickly that kids are kept watching it and can't take their eyes off the meanies! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
