This one had me stumped because I thought it could be several people, but they really did a good job of stumping me in the end. I really liked it. In "Playing for the Ashes," the first episode of the series' second season, Lynley and Havers' investigation into the arson death of a famous cricket player is hampered by the triangular relationships between the dead man's trainer, mistress, and wife, and finally his sad relationship with his son.

I love Elizabeth George's books ..... and this series is a good representation. Although not all the characters in the books are here (nameley St James and his wife Deborah), this episode was a good recreation. I do like the two actors playing the main characters (Lynley and Havers). Not what I pictured when reading the books, but they are good together on screen.

Plays heavily on the class envy theme that the Inspector Lynley series are built around. Satisfying ending.
