It reminded me a lot of Fight Club, only this movie is much closer to reality, which makes it even more powerful. I was particularly surprised at how well Elijah Wood did in this role. It was a very different role for him. He was even pretty believable in the fight scenes.
I did have to put the captioning on at times to follow the conversations (because of the accents) but it was worth it and it might not be a problem for other people.
It was also great view into the British culture and the whole "football" and hooligan culture.
It is a violent movie, so if that bothers you don't see this. It also is filled with bad language, so again, if that bothers you don't watch this. Not for children. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This was a good role for Elijah and he did great. At no time watching this did I go, "Wow, Elijah is really doing a great job." I was completely involved in his character as well as his english cousin. Great movie on the whole "hooligan" element out there in England. Check this out and enjoy. Read More The title was almost a turnoff for me, but I checked it out, solely based on the fact that Elijah Wood was starring in it. In spite of the profanity and violence that were necessary to carry off the plot successfully, I thoroughly enjoyed the film and found its message an excellent one. Elijah's character was subtly seduced into becoming a member of the gang and lover of violence, although he was not made that way. Strong acting, strong message and strong film. I recommend it.

This is one of those films. With that said, once you realize that the violence IS a part of the "all for one, one for all" mentality, you can adjust your perspective and appreciate the message. Family relationships - strong vs. weak - human errors, cultural behaviors, and the invincible nature of youth are all presented in this thought provoking film. Well worth the viewing. I felt the ending was a bit abrupt and would have like to have seen it expanded alittle. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

A little far fetched with Elijah Wood playing a street brawler, but it held my attention. It is amazing that their are no police in this city and that the fans of soccer teams start gangs that support the different teams. Different but not bad, just a little hard to believe. Worth a rent. The story is much ado about nothing. It is not even as edgy as they are advertising. Just becuase someone has a BLOODY accent doesnt make a film interesting or edgy. It's quite dumb.
