Read More Even Felicity Huffman's excellent acting skills couldn't pull off making this film any more exciting. While it had a good plot and some interesting scenes, most of the movie was incredibly slow and boring. If you want to know more about transgendered people, this is an interesting movie. If you want to be entertained, look elsewhere. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Both moving and funny, it was just a joy to watch, and the acting knocked me out!! Kudos to all involved. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

In fairness, the acting is very good, although Felicity Huffman's "woman affecting a male voice trying to affect a woman's voice" is a bit annoying.
Her characters subtle sense of humor makes a rather depressing movie tolerable. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It encourages us to open our minds and RESPECT the differences in people. The storyline was interesting on so many levels ~ you are truly able to see inside the lives that some people lead and even get some feeling about why those lives take the paths they do. I agree with the review that said the son was NOT a homosexual; his obvious traumatic sexual abuse history was compounded by his mother's suicide. Felicity deserves every nomination she received for her portrayal of Bree! Also, as noted in the "Review Guidelines" above, misspelled words do destroy a review's credibility since you should at least be able to spell 'sympathy' if you plan to trash an award nominated movie... Read More Didn't know what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. Allowing for all improbablities of life, almost, coming against a small group called a family and that's what I would call the core movie. Transitioning all over the place relative to personalities and it wasn't just father becoming mother. I wish I had watched the "director's" comments first. I first thought this person has a rough road to hoe even with the best of surgery. Then I realized it was a planned farse within a farse.
If you watch it with an open mind and don't get all bent, you will enjoy what's being said and how it's done. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I liked Dolly Parton's song for it played at the end. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
