Read More You have to go into this movie thinking "it's smart men who made a movie about moronic people". Think of the world as if the mentally challenged ran things. You will say to yourself as you watch the movie "That's stupid! What the hell is wrong with them?!" you will have to think around the "stupid" and if you do you'll see just how easy it would be for our society to slip into this dysfunctional dystopia. After seeing this movie I saw the trailer for Kenny Vs. Spenny which mirrors the show "Ow My Balls" in a very creepy way. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This movie was hilarious. Everybody is out of shape, wearing sweatpants, drinking only energy drinks, watching monster truck death matches, and throwing around words that really don't belong in that context. One of the favorites was "particular", which they stuck in front of just about everything.
When Luke Wilson spoke, they made fun of him for being faggy because he didn't grunt and speak ebonics. I see this degeneration happening already. How many times have we heard people say Barack Obama, Colin Powell, and Condoleeza Rice aren't black enough? The dumbing down of society has already begun and if we don't stem the tide, we WILL end up like this. The reason it's so funny is you could really see it happening.
This will never win an Oscar, but it will make you think. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

There are certainly several scenes during which you'll cringe. But then you take a deeper look and there's some interesting commentary there and a very interesting idea....we are dumbing down here in America and there are some really hysterical scenes to that affect. The Clevon baby bubbles, "water, you mean like in the toilet?" and pro-wrestler turned President of the U.S.A. to name only a few I'm remembering right this second....Give this flick a try and you'll sure to have a chuckle or two. Read More The idea for this movie is excellent, but the execution was off. It made it's point after five minutes of arriving at an outrageously idiotic, systematically controlling, and brutally violent future, but it really didn't go anywhere from there. It's almost as if Mike Judge couldn't figure out where to take the story, so he just fell back on shameless toilet humor, which is of course omnipresent in his future society, but it eventually too closely resembled the very stupidy that it was attempting to mock. Overall though, the movie does make for some good social commentary, and there are funny parts (even some of the toilet trash stuff), so go ahead and watch it (but don't expect it to blow your mind). It is build around the idea people will de-evolve into totally stupidity in 500 years. There is historic precedence for this idea when you look at entertainment today compared to 400 years ago when Shakespeare was writing. So I think they are onto something. . 4 out of 6 people found this review helpful A couple of good laughs, but mostly a big mess. The story was there, but to bad the jokes wern't. Mike Judge the brilliant director that he is, how do you make a piece of garbage like idiocracy.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I recommend this to everyone. It tells the story of a dystopia - where the world has been overrun by idiots. The chilling part is the way that It is starting to happen now.
This is a movie that has altered my perception of reality and made me think quite a bit about the state of our society.
Plus there are a lot of stupid and immature jokes. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
