Joaquin Phoenix shines in this role about an abused child who uses music to express himself and helps others through his lyrics, great work!

It was long, took me two nights to get through it but worth it. I watched the deleted scenes too. I think a few of them needed to be left in but as the director says the movie was getting long.

Joaquin Phonenix did a great job of portraying one of Country musics legands. If you like Johnny Cash, love country music or just like seeing potrayals of true events, this movie will be enjoyable. You will learn things perhaps you didn't know, like Johnny did time in prison. Worth a watch, worth renting.
