My 15-year-old granddaughter is in her Sophomore year in high school and she would really enjoy this movie as she is also playing basketball in hopes for a full scholarship to be a Sports Medicine doctor. Academically, she is there as holding 11th place for highest SAT score in our state. She plays point guard and is only 5'6", but is one of the best athletes in her school. I recommend this movie as encouragement to those who really have a dream.

This was a good movie showing the real life experiences of a high school basketball coach. There was not much doubt as to what would happen in the end but it was worth the view.

Not being a big fan of basketball, I havent liked many basketball movies either. Coach Carter was an exception. The acting was great, not just from Jackson, but from the boys too. The basketball sequences were shot very well. Knowing it was based on a true story helped me to like it alot more too. Its a very inspirational story. It made me wish I could find the right things to say and do to get my two step sons to work harder and focus more energy on their school work, and less on video games. Hopefully it was some help. The only other thing I can say to someone reading this who is thinking about seeing this movie is, Im not a basketball fan, and I liked it. That says alot. Oh, and, Samuel L. Jackson, enough said.

This was a factual movie and far from everyday urban life. While the film portrayed a man who made a difference, it is sad that society has taken value out of life and left people pursuing materialism and fantasy. A few guys got an opportunity to learn about character, most didn't do anything notable with it, according to the prologue which shows that back in the real world, it isn't about character after all. Just self pursuit. Good expose on our times.

Seemed formulaic at first. I was tempted to wonder why Denzel wasn't just type-casted in this role. But I was pleasantly surprised. Jackson does a convincing job of portraying Coach Carter in this compelling story and supporting actors and actresses are believable (and likeable) as well. A great story of human courage and principles winning out against the odds and the tide of public opinion. I recommend it, whether you like basketball or not.
