I was really disappointed in this movie. I like the Jennifer Weiner's books, which leads me to believe I should've read the book but skipped the flick. First of all, Shirley Maclaine was brilliant as always, but even though she played Cameron Diaz's grandmother, it was unbelievable how she could find any good in Cameron (Maggie). The character she played was really hard to like and relate to. And Toni Collette is normally a good looking woman, but could they have made her any uglier for this film?? I kept wanting to wash her hair and brush her teeth! The movie wasn't a total flop, but close to it.

This is a story of sisters, who when we meet them, have very little self-esteem. As the movie progresses we see more about their childhoods and the actions of their father, whose decisions defintely had a negative effect on his daughters. Shirley MacLaine did very well as their grandmother When the girls both stayed with grandmother, they changed their beliefs about themselves and their lives. An inspiring movie of love and the choices people make.
