This movie was decent. It definitely does not live up to its predecessor or its sequel. It seems out of place in the Riddick trilogy. Although the Riddick trilogy is set in a science fiction atmosphere, very few aliens are shown in Chronicles however dozens are shown in Dark Fury. The action sequences are a bit over the top, even for Riddick. Again, for an animated movie it was decent but thats if you are into animated movies.

The animation allows scenic effects that would otherwise be prohibitive on film. Puts Pitch Black and Chronicles together. Good storyline and interesting characters for the genre.

This film didn't explain the transition between the two movies at all. The two movies and the video game were awesome, but this movie is just a short Japanese anime film with the 3 characters. It has a lot of stuff that the film didn't develop on and the only thing it explained was how Toombs started chasing Riddick and that part of the story didn't come out well. Rent it, but think twice about making it part of your collection. The cut-scenes in Escape from Butcher Bay made a better movie.
