Every major US media outlet, whether TV or Radio is controlled by massive corporations such as G.E. (NBC) and Disney (ABC)
and Time/Warner/Universal.
Yeah, those left wing loon-bats at General Electric!
If those companies are supposed to be "far left" by the faith-based community, it could only be because those believers have fallen under a deep hypnotic trance of Bizzaro World, where the "Clean Air Act" allows more pollution and "Deregulation" has spawned a near-monopoly of all media, media which is anything but "left". Somehow this is all OK with them.
Network's author, Paddy Chayefsky, somehow saw this coming with such clarity that it is really frightening. What was once a satire has unfortunately become a horror show.

Read More I think this is more relevant now than it was when it was first released! It is all about corporate control of news shows, look at current coverage and you see nothing but a long corporate commercial. It is a bit unsettling how current this movie is. It shows we seem to only be sinking deeper and deeper into an abyss of sensationalism. Showing how the corporations use the media to keep us in the dark about what is going on. Keeping us dumb about reality. Watching the satire of what is wrong with sensationalist news was almost like watching todays Fox News broadcast. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More This film will probably appear a little dated to younger viewers (20- and 30-somethings), but it's a classic tale of corporate manipulation and back-stabbing. The acting is impeccable and riveting, so it's no wonder that it's considered one of the top 100 American films of all time. A must-see! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It was very prescient for its time. However, instead of indicting Fox News, he should have inserted ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN, (along with the LA Times, NY Times, etc) all of whom, with symphonic precision, give the same, homogenized, talking points from the left. Getting all these behemoths in lock step - now THAT'S corporate control for you. And that fact that guys like Paul think that standout Fox epitomizes corporate control shows you just how effective the big corporate alphabet channels have been in controlling the minds of Americans, just like in the movie! If you like your movies with a political edge I definitely reccommend Network. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I especially appreciated Robert Duvall's performance. However, I was thoroughly disappointed with the whole ending sequence. The ending could have been done in a much clearer and more meaningful way. Also kinda boring. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
