As such, I don't know how this movie didn't get an NC-17 rating. It has nudity, sex, graphic violence, cannibalism, beheadings, and several other elements that make it unsuitable for kids.
Having said that, I must also say this is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I felt like I was in the comic strip - its incredible. Bruce Willis and Mickey Spillane, among others, have standout performances. This is an incredible piece of art. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More This movie does a great job of lifting both Frank Millers stories and even more so his illustrations to film. You WILL feel as though you've leaped into the pages of his books. BUT if you are not familiar with his books - be forewarned this is not for kids (I'd say not for under 18)...this is not just violence - this is off the hook violence, certainly a little twisted - but so far off the hook & twisted it does become humorous...there is also a great deal of nudity and sexual situations..this is for adults only. The use of black and white enhansed the feel of the darkness. The only interesting part for me was the prostitutes associating to eliminate anyone who threatened them. Nice touch. I was confused close to the end when the same people killed in the earlier parts were alive again. But in the comic books you can get that I guess. Read More Much like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," this movie has an interesting visual approach, but the novelty of that wears off within the first 5 minutes and then you are left with a miserable mess. The violence (while so highly stylized and cartoon-like as to be almost laughable) is excessive, and the voice-over narrative dialogue sounds like it was lifted straight from a cheap dime store novel. The members who gave this garbage good reviews are obviously huge comic book fans for a reason -- because that is appropriate reading for their intelligence level. I turned it off after suffering through only 15 or 20 minutes (which seemed like hours) and returned it the very next day. Don't waste your time on this one!!
