Definitely worth renting. Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman were fantastic. The story was good and to be able to see 'inside' the UN and how it works was very interesting.

I get bored easily with movies if they aren't interesting from the start and I would have to say this was a great movie. It kept my attention the whole time.

It took three nights to watch this because it kept putting us to sleep. Who needs Ambien? It would have been better if it were half as long. It was hard to buy some of the twists the movie took, like the main character's, Broome (Nicole Kidman), sudden history as an AK-47 toting militia fighter.

The story line was complicated in the sense that you really had to draw your conclusions in the story as you went along to even care about the characters. Sadly, even then it was hard to care what was going on by the end of the movie. Sean Penn and Nicole Kidman did well acting but overall this isnt a movie I would watch again.

The storyline was kind of difficult to follow. The only thing that kept it interesting was the impulsive background music. The movie never took off. A dud. The ending had a nice twist, though you're able to figure it out beforehand. I thought the acting was terrible. Nicole could not act in Cold Mountain nor here. Her acting days seem about over. Her only star hit was with Cruise in Far and Away.

The Interpreter was good up until that last half hour or so. Fast paced and confusing until the end. Good drama and action until the conclusion where the audience is taught that the UN and ICC have supreme authority in the world and do good. The plot completely undermines the fact that nations are sovereign and that the UN has a positive record of acting in the good of humanity as a whole. This is complete nonsense. In fact, the UN has a clear record of inaction in the interest of humanity where it is needed most and the ICC has no place in a world where nations regard themselves as sovereign. This is the same UN that would allow nations that sponser terorism on the UN Security Council. Enough said. I'm sorry I saw this film and I will boycott any new films starring Nicole Kidman or Sean Penn.

Ever play with those pellets that you light and a carbon snake grows out of it around the 4th of July as a kid? It's really exciting at first and then it gets boring after awhile. This movie started out great, drew me in, first HOUR was really good! On the edge of my seat, suspenseful, intense, mysterious! Then there's that bus scene, and after that, there's maybe one cheesy sorta exciting scene for about a minute and slowly fizzles, drags on, ho hum, I never made it to the credits. Seems like one reeeeaaaallllly long ad against the people dying in Africa honestly. So if you rent it, watch it up to the bus scene and then turn it off, it's pretty much over anyways.
