Some of the dialog was hard to understand and there were some gaping holes in the storyline. Cook and Tucker capably take quirky characters and give them life. Everyone in this movie is flawed, which I guess in reality is the part that rings most true. Stateside is definitely not a typical teenage fluff piece. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? As someone who was the same age in the early 80's as the characters, it really felt accurate to me. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I loved the interaction between Cook and Tucker - both characters are flawed, one by mental defect, one by inexperience, youth and trauma. They fall in love, and they make you feel their exploration, fear and doubt. Both characters are quirky, misfits -- but also committed to each other. The film shows a sad, troubled side and we anticipate a terrible tradgedy in the offing. Well photographed, directed and scripted, but the cast interaction is the best. Well worth seeing. I caught it on one of the movie channels and it sucked me in. The interaction between Tucker and Cook made this entire movie work and the soundtrack really gave it a "Dawson's Creek" kind of feel. The ending was kind of a letdown because it just ENDED. An alternate ending to this would have made it an excellent movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
