Read More Every gay movie I have every seen is campy in some way or another and this is no exception. Anyone who denies that the sort of things that happen in this movie actually go on in real life is uneducated. This movie deals with some "mainstream" taboo subjects. Aversion therapy exists and people are subjected to it all the time. Only through bringing these practices out in the open can anyone begin to find a way to end the torture of gay people put through such regiments. This is a great movie about a man's struggle to reconcile his religion and family with his identity. Anyone who walks away from this movie saying or thinking things like, "I am not anti-gay, I just want to help people follow God's word" have completely missed the point of this movie. A highly recommended film. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I thought it would turn out to be silly or preachy or campy, but it ended up very good. Beautiful actors and the script had some very witty, thoughtful (and unfortunately hokie) elements. Palladino and Ramsey are gorgeous although I was looking forward to Gordon-Levitt in an intense scene or two (I'm a huge 3rd Rock fan). Best line was by the patient who tells Christian "you're like the snow on the television" (like when the channel's out)... I don't know why I liked that so much.... I've just now stopped crying over the feeling and emotion shown in this film.
Could be that I know the extreme torment that a freind of mine went through coming out in the Mormon church.
This is a MUST SEE for all GLBT people in ANY religion that casts US as bad people.

Read More Members of the LDS church may at first think this is a movie about NORMAL missionary life. Don't be mislead, as the makers of this movie thought they'd be clever by using the title 'Latter Days' as an obvious attempt to turn LDS heads. Since the theme is so far-fetched, why throw the LDS church into this? This is just another example of Hollywood's attack on religion. Look at "God's Army" if you are REALLY curious about missionary life. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
