U.K. filmmaker Marc Evans directs the psychological thriller Trauma, produced for the Ministry of Fear division of Little Bird Productions. Colin Firth stars as Ben, a man who wakes up from a coma to discover his wife, Elisa (Naomie Harris), has been killed in a car crash. He tries to start a new life on his own, but he's haunted by images of his wife and strange happenings in his apartment. Having no family connections left, he reunites with old friend Tommy (Tommy Flanagan). He also makes friends with neighbor Charlotte (Mena Suvari), who takes him to psychic Petra (Brenda Fricker). Trauma premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, Rovi
The movie was confusing up until the end - but that was it's purpose. We were meant to be confused. The main character was in a state of amnesia and the director wanted the audience to see what was happening through his eyes. It fell into place at the end. It wasn't a bad flick just a different type of direction which made you really pay attention to what was happening to the main character.
Someone should burn this movie and then no one will ever have to suffer through this horrible 1 hour and 34 minutes of pure hell. I did not--after 15 minutes I realized this movie is awful--actually one of the worst ever made/seen. Checked reviews online and this confirmed my suspiscions (not a single positive review out of 17). I should have checked reviews before renting this movie. Lesson learned.
Tried it once...fell asleep..came back to it a few days later...the movie is sooooo slow you can't help but notice the way your picture is hanging a little but to the left on your wall. It really is that bad....good god why?!
If you're into movies with zero plot, characters that seem to be created out of cardboard, and lots of jumpy editing, then by all means rent this. Also, if you want to get to sleep real quick and are out of xanix, just push play.
Simply atrocious.
This was one of the worst movies I have ever saw. I cant believe some one paid to make this movie it made no sense had no real understandable plot and you could barley understand the what the actors were saying at times due to strong British accents. Also I have no idea what Mena Suvari was doing in this movie I guess her career is already over, however the good news was I could understand her!
While I love british actor Colin Firth, I did not feel the same way about this movie. The plot was extremely difficult to follow, and I kept running back the dvd to see if I could understand what was going on. I still didn't understand at the end of the movie what it was about.
