Read More Enjoyed this movie, but was disappointed when the DVD had absolutely NO SUBTITLE OPTION. I even tried to use the closed caption feature on my television for the translations. I'm not sure why there was no subtitle option and I feel like I missed a lot of interesting discussions with the children and family members. Perhaps the version of the DVD I had was defective, but I can't imagine why it wasn't in the options choices. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I realized after watching this film how little I have valued life. This heart-warming story of these delightful children made me start to appreciate all the perks of being born in normal conditions. I was amazed at how intelligent these children are given their start in life and what a wonderful person Zana is. I loved the reconnecting part in the special features. I hope there will be another follow-up to see how these children have grown up and what they are doing with their lives. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I am both inspired and disturbed by what I saw. The dedication and completely unconditional love given to these children of the brothels by Zana Briski is an example for anyone who calls themselves civilized. That the guardians of these children could not decide to give their children a fighting chance to rise from the depravity of the ghetto is overhemingly dissapointing.
I recommend that anyone, who considers themselves enlightened, take a look see and decide then if they really are enlightened. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Even though she won an oscar, I got the feeling Zana Auntie made this documentary because she truly connected compassionately with the children knowing if she didn't help no one would. I was so moved by her action to intervene. This story is an example for us all that each one of us can do something to make this world a better place for those less fortunate than us. Read More I was really looking forward to this film, but it felt a bit like we missed a whole generation by focusing only on the kids of the prostitutes and not on the women themselves. There's been scant attention paid to the women who are sex workers and the film seemed to treat them as harsh without being able to see their full stories. By focusing only on "getting the kids off the street" and into schools, it seemed a bit like someone was doing something for them rather than with them. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
