Read More Even though there is a fictitous private eye in this film; it pretty closely follows the actual events surrounding the life and death of TV's Superman, George Reeves. Ben Affleck is perfectly suited for this role and does a good job of portraying the hapless late actor. Adrien Brody is excellent as the fictional private detective that is trying to piece everything together. This film is somewhat inconclusive about the events that led up to the death of George Reeves; but that was the way it was in real life anyway. Read More This a story about the death of 1950s star George Reeves of TV Superman fame. The movie creates a fictional character of a PI played by Adrian Brody (and very well done and believable) that was actually based on 3 or 4 detectives that worked on the case. It shows the multiple posibilities of how he may have died, most UNlikely being suicide which was the final ruling however. Ben Affleck surprises me here bringing a good performance. He looks nothing like the real George Reeves, used very little make-up (other than a fake nose) and pulls it off by nailing his voice and mannerisms perfectly. The problem with the movie was in the editing it seems..scenes & timelines were too tossed and some could have been lost all together which is the only reason I can't rate this movie 4 stars. Read More There is a really good movie hiding inside of this movie, but it never emerged. I really liked the Adrien Brody character (okay, I'd probably be willing to watch him read a phone book), but I kept waiting for him to DO something. All of these characters seemed to be waiting for lightning to strike instead of actually acting in their own lives. Very frustrating, and at least a half hour longer than it needed to be. This movie falls between the two, but he is wonderful. I love his lean wiry ... Read More There is still lots to like. Adrien Brody is SO good. He has been in some terrific movies and in some real clunkers. This movie falls between the two, but he is wonderful. I love his lean wiry energy. Ben Affleck has done lots better when he plays the non-blockbuster (no pun) roles such as in Bounce or Changing Lanes or Boiler Room. Here, I never got inside his character's head. The sets and 50s Hollywood ambience were spot-on. I might actually see this one again, just to watch Brody. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Afraid of getting addicted to sleeping pills? Then watch this movie when you are having a tough time falling asleep. This was the most boring piece of trash I have watched in my life. Given the option of watching Barney videos all day or this movie I would take the mind numbing Barney videos any day. Also who told Diane Lane she could act? They should be shot.
