Although the tone of the first season is very different than subsequent seasons, the first disk of season 1 is required viewing. Having grown up with Lost in Space, I am introducing my kids to the series. Since it is a tough sell getting them to watch black and white shows, we only watched the first disk of season 1 to give them the background they need to understand the concept. Now we will stick with seasons 2 and up in-color .

It was great fun watching something I haven't seen since I was very young. A fun trip down memory lane. Wish it were in color, though. Enjoyed it.

I was 4 years old when Lost In Space came out and I loved the show. It scares me now to think of how many hours I enjoyed -- and wasted, quite frankly -- watching this and other shows and their countless re-runs as a child. I'm sure I was still watching re-runs when I was 10. Anyway, though it was recently somewhat amusing to watch a few episodes again now that I'm in my late 40s, I was disappointed that I wasn't more captivated by the show. I forgot the shows were a full hour long and how laborious the scenes were. They go on and on forever before much happens. I simply had to watch the "Invaders from the Fifth Dimension" episode, remembering being pretty scared by the "floating head guys" when I was a kid. That was enough. Not to be too negative. They did a good job with the DVDs and the shows look great visually. If you were a fan, check it out, but you may be let down like I was.
