I don't really recommend this movie - it was dark, scary, and boring all at the same time. The best scene was the one with the bar that had video images of all the patrons.

What didn't work for me was that Sandra Oh's character was the sympathetic one, while the rest were a bit too cool to care about anyone but themselves. I know this is an opera remake (Rigoletto), but I wished there was more focus between Rick and his daughter - instead of having her show up nearly halfway through the movie.

I liked the movie and thought it was a great story. The only thing I couldn't figure out was the unbelievable lack of suspense. The only suspense is wondering how they plot will twist to deviate from all the foreshadowing. But it never does! The ending is very harsh, and very appropriate for an opera. I liked it.

This was one of the scariest movies I've seen for quite awhile. If you listen to the out takes of the movie, you understand it was based on an opera. So much for my intellectual aspirations :-) If I thought hell was a real place where you could actually live; I would have to say this was like a day there. Aside from that, I have to go back and read the opera and see what happened to the daughter. First clue is that "Rick" was the court jester.
