The Wedding Date (2005) Reviews

Wow, nothing like trying to capitalize on My Best Friends Wedding for the past 10 years....geeze. Wedding theme - Check. Dermot Mulroney - check. Unrealistic lifestyle (ex: - airline desk clerk with wide array of designer clothes, top notch city apartment - huh?) and Wedding scenario - check. Unoriginal - check. Lack of connection to characters - check. One minute you hire a professional "date" and seconds later you are completely comfortable with him like you've known him and lived with him for years??? C'mon! A few scenes into this film - with no insight, depth or many lines to Dermot's character - and suddenly were supposed to understand the part where he's falling for his paying "customer"???? What a cheesy, poorly written film that would only grab the heart or attention of a lobotomized step ford wife!

I didn't expect to like this much but saw some of it on cable and felt like I should watch the whole thing so I put in on my queue and dragged my feet on watching it. When I finally got around to watching it, it was worth it. I loved it, and even my husband (who I'm surprised even agreed to watch it) liked it. I bought a previously viewed DVD and will watch it every now and then.
