It's close to a perfect movie. Excellent acting, a great detective story, the most realistically horrifying depiction of war ever (better than the opening scenes of Private Ryan), a love story, a horrible view of the evil in humanity, a history lesson (an era and a war most of us know little about), and Audrey Tautou. Besides, who knew that Jodie Foster has a perfect French accent? Sure, it's long, but the complexity of the detective story and the characters' parts in that story require it.

What is it with people and subtitles?? What part of FOREIGN did you morons not understand when you rented this? Does the whole world need to speak english just to accomodate a bunch of rednecks that can't learn a second language or read subtitles, Christ.... This movie has it all, a great love story, war and even some funny parts. The love story isn't overly done and never gets cheesy or flowery like so many other movies along the same theme. I'm not the biggest Audrie Tatou fan, but this one is one of my favorites. Note that I'm a guy and not the biggest fan of love stories. This is one of about three that I actually like.

I agree that it seemed like a long movie and it was hard to keep up with all the names, but I still enjoyed it very much. The love story stood strong in my opinion. Good movie

High/low. This film both achieves the feeling of whimsy (a la Amalie) and misses it horribly. It is strong on the thread of coincidence and misinterpretation, and fails completely to revive the surrealistic thoughts of Amalie that were so great in the first film. I loved and revisit Amalie often, but not this film. Success in this film about 70% of the time, good for one viewing and if you love it, then Bienvenue a France.

Wonderful cinematography makes for a beautiful French film. A little confusing at times - it doesn't help that it's a French speaking movie; there's a lot of French names to remember and keep up with. Nonetheless, the story is compelling and superbly acted. Worthy of watching.

This movie was very long, drawn out and boring. It did keep me guessing a little, but at some point I just really didn't care.
