Classic film directed by none other than AH a delight to watch. Carole Lombard amazing talent guides the viewer down memory lane for a taste of the 1940's. It's the story of a couple married for three years faced with the problem (esp for in the 40's) that they are not married after all. They ask one another if they'd do it all over again if they weren't married ---so when they aren't "legally" married.....therein is the story. Enjoyable, lighthearted & a little zany comedy from the master of suspense -- is genius in of itself.

One is certainly able to enjoy the acting in this enjoyable film. It is not the typical Alfred Hitchcock movie, by a long shot. One should see it for that reason alone, but be prepared to have Lombard and Montgomery host the viewer in getting involved with an elegant and delightful hour and a half of true cinematic entertainment

With Hitchcock directing and Lombard and Montgomery acting, this sounded like it would be good. It failed to strike me as funny. Perhaps it was the script, but the acting seemed a bit forced, as if to compensate for something lacking in the production values. The premise was weak: A couple got married in a town that ended up belonging to another state, so all marriage licenses granted there were void. In real life, the license would have been recognized after state boundaries were redrawn. It was so bad I slept through the last half of the movie, and my wife said I didn't miss a thing, that it actually got worse the longer she watched.
