At some point this movie was renamed to/from Curse of the 49er. That would have made more sense, I suppose, since this movie doesn't feature much of a massacre. The movie was clearly inspired by the Leprechaun franchise. Instead of an Irish Imp retrieving his stolen gold - You get a long dead Miner who is revived by his stolen cursed gold. Some scenes are stolen right out of Candyman and Nightmare on Elm street. It's typical horror fare - The basic old set 'em up and knock 'em down one at a time killing spree. Lame eye candy, horrid effects, bad acting, low body count and a stolen uninspired story not only bog this lame duck down - if fact it never takes off. Skip this turkey, it sucks. Close this Review

I was thinking this might be good because the guy directing it is a special effects artist. It's not. It's not much of a massacre, either, so why have that title? It looks okay, filmwise, it just didn't work for me. Nothing new here. Karen Black fans might wanna give it a peek 'cause she's in it. Gorehounds will be very disappointed. Don't bother with renting this movie. Get special effects artist Stan Winston's "Wrong Turn" instead. Close this Review
