In the suburbs of Dublin, more than a dozen strangers find their paths colliding in sometimes violent, sometimes absurd ways in Intermission, the first feature from director John Crowley. Setting the chain of events in motion is Lehiff (Colin Farrell), a small-time crook whose most recent petty theft has him on the run from Jerry (Colm Meaney), a self-aggrandizing police detective who's even more full of himself now that he's being constantly trailed by a TV news documentary crew. Meanwhile, Lehiff's friend John (Cillian Murphy) is going though a trial breakup -- or "intermission," as he calls it -- with his girlfriend, Deirdre (Kelly Macdonald), who has promptly taken up with the older, more conventionally responsible bank manager Sam (Michael McElhatton). When Lehiff suggests that the answer to all of his and John's troubles is to set up Sam and rob his vaults, John's too eager to comply -- and their plan spells dire consequences for everyone in their immediate circle of relations. Also starring David Wilmot, Brian F. O'Byrne, and Shirley Henderson, Intermission had its premiere at the Galway Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, and secured berths at the Edinburgh, Telluride, and Toronto festivals. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

This movie made several noble attempts to be interesting. Colin Farrell played a decent role. But, in the end, it was just a "so-so" movie, poorly trying to emulate "Vantage Point" or "11:14." One of the more aggravating things is the extensive use of that camera technique where it appears that the cameraman has parkinson's disease. PLEASE STOP USING THIS annoying and distracting technique!!! Just hold the camera steady, for crying out loud!

I loved it, needed to use subtitles, but it was entertaining and a great way to see normal day to day Ireland

For some reason I picked this movie up thinking it was a serious drama and was very surprised to find a hilarious, badass little flick in the spirit of "Pulp Fiction" (but it's not a ripoff like "Suicide Kings"). The film follows about a dozen characters around Dublin as they rob, steal, and do other naughty things. Don't rent this thinking Colin Farrell is the main character, he's a fairly minor one. Cillian Murphy ("28 Days Later...) holds most of the screen time although the film is an ensemble. This movie is fast, funny, and actually kind of sweet once you get past all the violence. If you like Tarantino then do yourself a favor and check this one out.

Im irish so im biased but this is a great movie. You get sick of the fake portrayls of ireland and the fake accents. Everything about this movie from the characters to the actors and the story line is very real. There is however a lot of irish phrases and terminology used that most people not from ireland just will not understand because you have to grown up with it! Its the details in this filim that make it. Colm meaney is as usual superb.

I agree with the other reviewers that this film is pointless garbage, (and you can't understand the accents for at least the first twenty minutes) but if you don't like hearing the F word, DON'T RENT AN R-RATED FILM. You can write it off as gratuitous...if you live in a cave. I know plenty of people who curse that much, if not more.
