Read More The end of the movie is by no means killing God, it is defeating authority or maybe Catholic Church. There is a fight a against an oppressive, totalitarian institution and institution loses the fight. Even if you stretch it is not god. The movie has no negative reference to faith. Isn't U.S. established by people who ran away religious oppression? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Basically, I saw it as a "trailer" for the sequel. Certainly not up to the standards of the "Potter" movies. If there is a sequel, I hope it's better than this original. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

There are no surprises. If you are at all intuitive you will see everything coming long before it arrives. The ending is useless because there is no closure only a set up for the next movie. I think it is a waste of time making the next one, I wonât bother to watch. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

This was a very good movie, a very good concept. The acting was great. The story was engaging. The only thing that disappointed me was that this is part 1, so I was expecting a complete ending and was left hanging. If you plan on watching this, wait for part 2 to come out and then watch both. The idea of having a soul outside your body following you around is amazing. Maybe that's how it really is but we are just too blind to see our own souls. I do not recommend this movie for kids. There is too much fighting and killing. Then again, if your kids are desensitized to violence, let them watch this and then pop in Hostel. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More The movie was very dark and too fast paced for its own good. There was not enough room for character or plot development, which is essential if you are going to make a trilogy. While the ice bear fight was good, I don't think it balances the weak fight scene at the end or the endless bland treks across the tundra. I heard it got an academy award for graphics, but Lion was much better. I will give it props for the paranoid Clockwork Orange British kids prison. All together though, very disappointing. Not really interested in the sequel. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Sadly, that was about the end of the viewing enjoyment I had. As far as a translation from book to screen goes, the script writing was just poorly done. There were so many missing pieces of storyline-critical information that were just missing. For anyone who has not read the books, this movie would have felt like it went nowhere, had a lot of dangling plot strings and/or made no sense. Most likely it would have felt like a combination of the three. The end of the movie just stops and if one did not know there was more story afterwards (in the form of more books and remaining story from the first one) it would have felt very abrupt. It was well acted, though. The actors did what they could. This was quite a wste of time. I cannot imagine a sequel will be done.

I was more than pleasantly surprised. It was fantastic. Much more exciting than The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Action, adventure, great characters, magic. It has it all. As for the religious controversy...nonsense. It's not about "killing God". It's about free will and the struggle for it. That's not anti-God. It's anti religious control. A BIG difference. Enjoy the movie. It is great. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
