Don't watch it with kids and expect some uncofortable moments if you are watching with someone else. While it was interesting to see the 'research', the movie seems to suggest that it's OK to sleep around with everyone around you (like your co-workers' wives, intern, husband's gay lover, old ladies, etc). It seems the characters had no moral values of any kind. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I was shocked by how little people knew before his studies but saddened by how little he knew in the end. I found that the dialogue entertained the idea of how emotionally crippled he was despite his "open-minded" ideas. Interesting but disturbing. And i usually like disturbing. In the end, I didn't feel like a great movie passed before me though clearly the man was a force. Something is missing (maybe subtlety?) Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More At the heart of this movie is a character study of Kinsey, the man. As astute a scientist as he was, he was also supremely naive about the emotional and social ramnifications of sexual behavior. Kinsey comes across as a well intentioned man who, because of his own life and family experiences, was perhaps at once the most as well as the least qualified person to conduct this ground breaking work. The scariest part of the film is the insight into the amount of misinformation and conjecture that was being touted as fact regarding sex & human psysiology. It's telling that, even in Kinsey's time, an educated, rational thinker would realize that abstinance as a method of disease and pregnancy prevention simply doesn't work. It's not in keeping with human nature. Funny how the current administration, with its conservative agenda, has not learned the lessons that were taught a half-century ago. I found Kinsey to be a pretty pathetic character, and not in a sympathetic way. While I think his initial intentions in doing a sex study had some validity, he ended up using it to justify his own perverted sexual desires. I found myself feeling very sorry for his family, as they seemed to be on the bottom of his list of priorities. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Again, the Oscar nominations for this year yield another snoozefest. I thought it was utterly forgetable, and I even studied the work of Kinsey extensively in college and grad school. His work is fascinating. His life? Not so much so. This ranks right up there with a Beautiful Mind, in my opinion, on the sleep induction scale. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
