Too much else goes into making a movie, including a movie-makers objective and point of view. However, not having known much more about Dr. Kinsey besides his now famous report on sexuality, I found the film extremely interesting and well acted by all. Is Dr. Kinsey painted as some kind of hero? I dont think so..the film show's us his vulnerable side ( his poor relationship with his father ) , his selfish side ( putting his career ahead of his wife and her feelings ), his lack interpersonal skills etc. I put off renting this film for a long time actually feeling it might be boring but was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it and learned a few things to boot. Worth seeing at some point. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Can't quite put my finger on it. Liam's good, but you never quite feel like you are involved or care about the story or characters. Detached may be one way of putting it. Scientific or self-serving? Open minded or perverted? I have not studied Kinsey's work, but from the movie, I get the feeling that he was nothing extraordinary; just someone obsessed with sex due to an extremely prohibitive upbringing. I feel sorry for the poor guy and anyone who looks at this film thinking he [Kinsey] made some great breakthrough. Being wrapped up in the mechanics, I think he missed the truthful meaning of human sexuality. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

It highlights the life and challenges Kinsey faced and reminds us all how much difference one man can make on us all. It is a drama and it is long but otherwise intreguing. This coming from someone who's a 3 on his scale! :-) Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Acting was superb, writing excellent, and direction and editing fantastic. It has been some time since we watched a really well executed film. Kudos to all who made it happen. Especially surprising - the music was so integral to the presentation of the story. Really well done. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More The poor reviews I have read so far decry that the film glorifies the man and is, in this way, historically inaccurate. I rented the film in spite of this because I felt these people were probably religiously obligated to pan the movie.
By film's end however, I could care less whether they captured the true essence of Kinsey because the acting was so bad I couldn't even think about plot accuracies and inaccuracies. I have never seen such good actors all be laughingly bad in the same film. My girlfriend and I spent the majority of the film laughing. This is not a comedy.
Don't miss this one because Jesus told you to; miss it because it's unwatchable. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Maybe Liam Neeson did too good a job of acting. It was painful to watch "Alfred Kinsey's" life being protrayed. I could only stand about 25 minutes of that before I popped the DVD back into its paper jacket and put it back in the mail box for return.
I grew up in the 1950's and teens knew more about sex than what most adults admitted that they themselves knew. But very few adults were as "stupid" about sex as A. Kinsey was, or he thought they were. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
