Man has created so many great systems and order IS needed to preserve them and make them run efficiently. But sometimes that order crushes humanity. Tom Hanks depicts this movingly as Viktor. When Viktor ingeniously trumps his trappings, Speilberg and the screenwriter do an excellent job of showing how those who thrive outside "the system" are made into pariahs by slaves and overseers of the system. Fabulous layered themes throughout -- and all well depicted.
I didn't think I'd like a movie where Hanks had an accent, especially since I'm not a Hanks fan. But this man is such a great actor, that after 20 minutes I forgot it was Tom and just enjoyed poor, persevering Viktor.
The acting was superb, and the plot engaging (even though there were some minor annoyances).
I almost cried when Viktor's friends challenged the system and sacrificed their safety for him at the end. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

I never left my chair. The passion and proformance of TOM H is at his best. The phots of the looking in the shop through glass to see how a new suit would look on him was brillant. I strongly rec. this to anyone. No r rating is a fresh take and you and your whole family will love this Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More This is like the other version of "Cast Away," but the movie really focuses on how to deal with being stuck for no reason. He also dealt with helping other people in a funny way. This movie is very entertaining, and people will be seeing this movie more than twice. The best part(s) of this movie are:
1. The fountain scene -- Victor made a beautiful fountain that somewhat relates to Napoleon.
2. Diego Luna & Zoe Saldana - Victor helped his friend to hook up with Torres (Zoe Saldana).
3. "A Janitor's Suicide?" -- see how Guptar saves Victor in this movie. It's very funny. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
