I enjoyed the movie - though not as much as the first 4 - but my kids were bored, except my 9 year old. If your kids don't LOVE Harry Potter, they won't sit still in this one. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I have read all 7 books and I now own the five movies that are out. I am extremely disappointed in this movie. Out of all of the movies this one is least like the book. They played Tonk's role down way to much, for those of you who have read the last 2 books you know why. And you don't get important points like when Harry questions whether his mother really loved his father and Remus and Sirius assuring him that she did. They left so much out and it's going to hurt them when they make the last two movies. Then they left Quittach completely out. This movie over all was disappointing; I think they assume everyone reads the books. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI'm usually all about the HP movies. They pick up most of the good stuff from the book and turn it into the visuals students are used to today. But not this movie. The focus was on one small aspect of the book: Delores Umbridge at Hogwarts. They totally diminished Harry growing self-hatred, the incredibly wonderful scenes from the Ministry of Magic (although they had a little bit of it - but what about the brain stuff?) and how will they re-introduce the two-way mirror Harry got from Sirius? I've seen this twice and will still buy it. IDK, maybe I saw it too close to reading the book and my mind just wasn't ready to forget all the wonderfulness it had read. So my advice - read the book at least a year before or after seeing the movie. But by all means, read the book! Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI feel sorry for anyone who tries to watch this movie without having read the book first. They cut so much of the book out that the casual watcher probably wouldn't be able to follow the movie very well. This could really be said about all the Harry Potter movies except the first one. I watched the first three before I read the books and I did a lot head scratching because of it. But if you have read the books, then the movies do serve as a good visual companion to the series. Read MoreSo yes I've finally been sucked into Harry Potter. I'm making myself read the books first. I just finished book 5 so I just rented the movie, and I liked it. The actor who plays Harry gets handsome in this one. Daniel Radcliffe? He's young, of course, but he's cute! I know JK must have been sure by the time she wrote book 5 that it would be made into a high-budget movie, and sometimes I think her scenes work better as movies than as books.
