American Treasure is not for people who like to pay attention to the movie they are watching. The plot is full of gaping holes that are covered by the ridiculously lucky guesswork of Cage's character. Need an excuse to get our heroes to the next historical location? Have Gates (Cage) think about a riddle he heard earlier in the movie and, out of nowhere, suddenly conclude that it means they need to go to Philadelphia! Amazingly, he never guesses wrong even though he settles on the first idea that pops into his head. American Treasure insulted my intelligence and challenged my ability to suspend disbelief. Even Tomb Raider was a better movie than this.

I'm picky when it comes to movies, but this one had some redeeming qualities. It's an above average movie, but the real kicker is all the extra's in the DVD. Spend some time to unlock all the codes and you'll be well rewarded. Make sure you view the history on the Templar Knights in the DVD. If that interests you, then look up the information on the money pit in Nova Scotia... You'll be fascinated by what you'll learn. A definate must rent DVD.

The plot is a disaster, and the puzzles make you groan. It's got a few funny moments, but one could achieve better by tickling oneself!

This one's a little confusing initially, but the adventure is like being reeled in on a fishing line: you continue to be dragged along yet interested in the outcome. Nicolas Cage doesn't come across to me as Harrison Ford does, but more of an ordinary person who steps into the role. While some of what happens is far-fetched, the adventure shows creativity which in turn creates interest.

This movie was your classic "Indiana Jones" adventure entertainment typed film. I personally loved the movie! If you're looking for a good chuckle, sit on the edge of your seat, cheer the adventure, and simply ENJOY, type of movie, then THIS is the one for you! This movie is -definitely- not for the analytical. ^.^; I will say there were some things in the movie that seemed a tad, far-fetched (some people have already mentionned them, so I won't go into it), but overall, the action kept you from wondering too much about those particular things. I gave it 5 stars, because the Action was fluid, the idea was of the classic adventure films (we so rarely see now-a-days), and the actors were well suited to the characters.

This turned out to be much better than I though it would be. The extras are pretty cool (although the games are a bit elementary) if you have a penchant for history.
