Read More Maybe it depends upon my mood when I watch, but I was THOROUGHLY ENTERTAINED by this movie! I loved the beginning, with the actors, the characters, "acting like actors" skills, the filmmaking, the set design, historical context... convincing, fresh, fun! Naomi Watts is absolutely adorable in this movie!! She's really really cute! Love her hair! Other actors were unfamiliar, very attractive and entertaining actors. I don't remember the older movies, so I won't be comparing. The action scenes were way far-out, but also impressive filmmaking, because it didn't rely upon chaos to hide flaws, and was easy to follow. We laughed and laughed! Fabulous nightmare material with the insects - EWWW! Yes, it was too long, and didn't need to be. I usually save the 5th star for "thought provoking" but I couldn't resist on this one. I would highly recommend it. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I just finished viewing KING KONG and I have a confessionâ¦I fell in love with Naomi Wattsâ¦or at least her character in the film, Ann Darrow! This remake, unlike the 1976 âstinkerâ pays homage to the 1933 production by duplicating the original almost scene for scene and character for character with one major and charming exception. In the original, the heroine is terrified of Kong from their first meeting to the climax on the Empire State building. In this version, once she realizes that Kong is not going to hurt or kill her, she looses her fear, entertains him with her vaudeville tricks and eventually falls in love with Kong and him with her so much so that she tries to protect Kong against capture on the island and against the airplanes in New York. This is just my interpretation, but I believe that after Kong falls off the building to his death, Ann contemplates suicide by following him but is pulled back by the hero at the last moment. Does anyone agree? Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

No way this had to be 3hrs and 8 mins long. There were entire scenes that were un-necessary - and the monster chase and fight scenes were much too long and indulgent. Additonal probs were with the special effects. Could see people and dinos running right through trees and each other..lol...don't have to look hard to see it - Kong in the city had cars running right through him. I can over-look things like that in a low budget film..but this was a big budget film...no excuse for stuff like that. NOW then - the upside..and there's much good to say about this film as well. Great performances! The way the film was shot in the old technocolor colors of back in the day was smart..and beautiful. The score was wonderful as were the costumes. Jack Black was perfection. Respectful of the first Kong of the 30s, & leaps and bounds better than the Kong of the 70s. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Well, this movie proves a theory: YOU CAN DEFINITELY HAVE TOO MANY SPECIAL, COMPUTER GENERATED EFFECTS that last WAY, WAY TOO LONG. Good grief, the big dinosaur chase scene lasted so long I got up, went outside to check my mail, noticed that my lawn needed mowing, mowed part of my lawn, ran out of gas so had to go to the gas station to get more, came home and finished mowing the lawn, and then went inside....and they were still in the chase scene! Really!!! Also, no one develops any semblance of a relationship to the degree that I could honestly believe they would CARE ENOUGH to try and save/love/be with/talk to anyone else. The only bright spot is the ship's captain, who (I believe) plays Faramir in LOTR's. Great perfomance in this Jack Black dominated effort. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
