I am a Christian and I must say this is the most even portrayal of the Christian life I've yet to find. There are the people that are forced to accept Christ life, those who use it to further their own agendas (oh yes the people who slam this movie are most likely those people) and the ones that believe in a childlike way that sometimes can get them into trouble. All characters are flawed and that is what makes the movie not only funny but very very poignant. If you are like me and feel somewhat awkward in church of any denomination watch this and maybe feel a little relieved that your life isn't THAT bad. :) Edit: by the way reviews move up and down depending on how other rate them so I'm at the top of the list just for now and I wasn't offended, that lady is at the bottom of the list.....not quite sure why ;)

I am a southern baptist, which is one of the stricter religions. I did not take offense whatsoever to this movie, based on the fact that these are high school kids finding their own way, learning that things don't always go according to plan and you have to make mistakes sometimes and learn the hard way. I think the way they made light of what most kids at that age think, was a true portrayal actually. I would recommend this movie to anyone who doesn't take things too seriously. It was slow moving in spots but overall it kept my attention and I watch it over and over again when it comes on tv :)

It's called satire. If you watched the movie you realize that real christanity is not the hipocracy of the far right.

I grew up in a Christian home, went to Christian school my whole life, and still love Jesus and call myself a Christ follower to this day. I thought the portrayal of Hillary Faye was at times authentic to the way other Christians act, but at other times, over the top. I think that even the movie doesn't come right out and say it, it does still send the message that Christians really should love everyone, believers, and unbelievers just as they are. Growing up in Christian school, I've seen too many times that Christians try and make everyone fit their mold of who they think they should be. Jesus wants us to be individuals, but that doesn't mean we can't love him and follow after Him. I did find it funny in a few moments, but I would consider it more of a satire, than comedy. I would not suggest this movie to a young audience (13-16), but only for those who can appreciate satire and see beyond the "digs" at Christianity.

I was a little disappointed, expecting something of more substanance, HOWEVER what I saw was another teen movie - this one with a "Message" - however they went to very stereo-typical extremes to state it. Truth in it however - was fun - but not near on the scale I had hoped.

This movie did poke fun at Christians a bit. It was cute and had a good message, but could be a little offensive to some.

I liked the movie. I wished Mandy had gotten her act together and sung a few GOOD songs, but she just mumbled her voice. She is really sweet, for a lesbian. She has got to do something about that tummy and those thighs girl, God, take up walking! Or wear a girdle. I think they could have left out the part where the boy fondled the young 13 year old girl's breast (?) (32X/digizoom) with both hands, by the swimming pool and she had an orgasm, but it was well done and innocent. Maybe the porn cops won't think so. It should of had a PG17, but kids grow up so fast today! It's even starting to show up in movies. The movie lacked a certain degree of direction and I think they took advantage of Mandy and her name. Too, bad. She is so beautiful. I just love her movies. Kissesssssss Mandy. http://homepage.mac.com/roaeja2

I too as a Christian was mortified by this movie and the way it portrayed Christians. I thought this was a family movie, boy was I wrong. I only watch the first maybe 30 minutes of the movie and shut it off. I was extremely disappointed by its content. Don't watch this will your kid's or at all for that matter. All, I have to say is "Christians aren't perfect just Forgiven by a God who is!"
