The only reason I watched this movie was because Kirsten Dunst was in it.

Definitely a great date movie as long as you like tennis or at least know the basics, otherwise the action scenes will bore you. My girlfriend and I loved it! Very cute. And I'd have to disagree with the love conquers all and a hero arises to win the girl, I think it's more about inspiration, that you meet someone who inspires you, I don't think he won the games to win the girl, he loved her whether he won or lost, and in fact he EXPECTED to lose. And his parents were brought back together because they were so proud of and inspired by they're son. It also shows how seriously, emotionally controlling love can be by affecting your whole day no matter how hard you try to focus on the task at hand. How the day starts really does affect how the rest of the day goes. I also liked Jon Favreau's part as his agent (loved him in Swingers!). A definite rent for the tennis player/watcher couples night!

Guys, you'll recognize Paul Bettany from A Knight's Tale, and Master and Commander. His Peter Colt gives you someone to identify with, and the authentic Wimbledon atmosphere will appeal to your ESPN side. Sam Neill gives a fine supporting performance as the long-suffering dad to tennis star Dunst. Sports and romance make for a great date movie (see Love and Basketball, which has a rivalry subplot that gives it more of an edge than Wimbledon).

Very average. I'd have been ticked if I paid $9 admisison for this movie - but not terrible for a rental.
