Read More Howard Hughes was larger than life, and matched that reputation physically; Leonardo DiCaprio was a bizarre casting in this role, but he does extremely well with it, playing up the boyish charm aspect of Hughes' character particularly. The movie is perhaps poorly titled, as it spends as much if not more time dealing with Hughes' film career. Many of the events of Hughes' life are conflated and compacted - as is often necessary - and it completely ignores his syphilis (thought to be the cause of his odd behavior) and rumored homosexual relationships (although he was indeed very much the ladies' man in Hollywood as depicted here). All in all, a good movie, if a little long. Oh, and if you want to see the Spruce Goose, it's currently in the AirVenture Museum in McMinnville, OR. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More This movie is 2:40, which is way too long for not being an epic, but about one person. I don't see any of the characters personified in the movie, Cate Blanchett as Kate Hepburn was a horrible impersonation, and Leo looks and sounds nothing nothing nothing like the real Howard Hughes. Martin Scorsese is the most overrated director, and you can pile this crap along with "The gangs of new york" waste. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Why not rename the movie, "HOWIE GOES CRAZY"? Hughes was eccentric, to be sure, but this movie dwelled on that rather than this man's "ahead of his time" genius. Typical Hollywood "gotta make a dollar" rubbish. Save your money. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

"crazy"... but I could have never imagined! The movie, while treacherously long, was so incredibly interesting and still better than any single period in high school history! The casting of Cate Blanchett for Kate Hepburn was awesome. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

DiCaprio has become one of the best actors in Hollywood and this movie proves it. His role as Howard Hughes is very good and I am not sure there are many other actors out there who could have done this script as much justice. Must see! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? How much of it is factual is another question. Whether that question can be answered is beside the point, because the success of a movie isn't a matter of factual accuracy but of credibility & appeal, & however true to Hughes's life this chronicle may be it never really engages its audience in a respectful & meaningful way. Cate B's Hepburn may have punch but it lacks plausibility, just like the movie overall. It may depict a life, but it doesn't live. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
