To Mr. Kline I give 5 stars - the movie a 4. As wonderful as he was, as wonderful as the music was (and how could it not be?), as wonderful as the costumes are and enjoyable to behold as well - and as very very interesting as Cole Porter's life was - I kept waiting for the part of Linda Porter played by Ashley Judd to be more telling. Much attention on all details it seems but of hers. She gave a fine performance with what she had - but the script gave little to that character and all to Cole's. But overall it was a beautiful film. The contemporary artists that sang his songs did a really fine job as well. I'm dashing right out to buy the soundtrack. This is one of my favorite movies. The music is so good - all performed by current stars like Alanis Morriset and Elvis Costello. I love Kevin Kline and the love story is complex and beautiful. Anyone who likes musicals will love it. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreI mostly wanted to see this for the music, which was good. I liked the idea of contemporary stars singing the old songs, but I thought Alannis Morissette was a bad fit. The story was slow moving, and very trite,just like the old movies, maybe that was on purpose, but you could tell what was going to happen ahead of time. Overall, good story. I did not know much about Cole Porter or how many songs he has written, before the movie, and I learned a lot. Not a waste of time, but slightly disappointing.
