I didn't think I would like this movie because I've always thought of it as an "on-stage musical", but it was very well done. Nice job if bringing the "stage" into the theater.

I just can't understand the reviews stating that the music was "corny". I find the songs absolutely beautiful, the best of any musical I've ever seen. Of course, musicals can take some getting used to, so maybe that was the reason. My 6 year old daughter was mesmerized by it immediately (I discouraged her from watching it since it's PG-13, but she just closed her eyes and listened), and I bought the cd just to play it for her and my older daughter.

I have seen this on two different stages, read the book and have the CD. This movie does no justice the splendor of the production. I had to force myself to finish the whole thing. The actors are stiff and don't even look like they are singing and Mini Driver was not convincing as an Italian. I was very disappointed. Don't ruin your memories or anticpation with this production!
