Finally, a feature length animation that out-does Disney. The funny stuff never stops and the more times you see it the more you find.

This movie was even funnier than the first one, plus the animation, which didn't seem like it could get any better from the first one, actually did! The Dinner With The Parents scene with Eddie Murphy's Donkey making things even worse than they'd started out had me almost hyperventilating, I was laughing so hard! (I actually had to pause the movie after Donkey spills the beans about Shrek and Fiona living in a swamp, then quickly goes back to noisely eating his soup when he relizes he blew it. I almost fell out of my chair!) The animation - hell, the ART is almost breathtakingly beautiful - I've watched this movie several times - 1st time just for the overall experience, and then subsequent times to go into pause at times when the background scenery is just so beautiflully done - the artists really know how to use computer animation to create beautiful (and often lively) backgrounds, as well as extremely real looking characters, of course. Absolutely first rate!

Shrek 2 was at least on a par with the original. There were "adult" parts that would go straight over the heads of most 12 year olds. The vocal cast was near perfect. However I'm not too sure if a Shrek 3 should be made. Can they maintain the same high standard of 1 and 2?
