Read More This film showcases excellent acting, to such a point that the actors made this film much more than the director ever could. The story was good, based partly on a real story of an Italian bodyguard that went through a similar process. The tone was right, and the pace was good. You watch a process of transformation in a bodyguard, who seems tortured by his military past, as he grows attached to his client's child. Then, she gets kidnapped, and the process of revenge investigation starts. Even so, this film ends up with a positive message (although some may not recognize it), of how two people influence each other to become better. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Read More This film is cast perfectly, and then well developed by director Tony Scott and edited and shaped into a believable scenario that sells itself to the viewer. The characters and plot are set quickly, and then the movie moves into high gear. Creasy, portray by Denzil Washington is a no nonsense down-and-out individual that is given body guard position that is way over his head at this point and time in his life. Now his charge Pinta, characterized by Dakota Fanning is kidnaped and Creasy rises to the occasion and becomes a man on a mission. What I found refreshing about this movie is that when someone is eliminated, there is not a five minute conversation used to explain the reasoning for his killing, In this film the plot is so well defined that the execution is done without the usual banter first, The second half of this movie moves at a fast and furious pace that will leave you breathless. It also delivers good action along with a good plot and story ark. However, at times the story does drag for way too long, making some moments a lot longer than they should've been. The main flaw however, is Tony Scott's fast paced directing style. His fast cuts and editing are way overdone in this film, along with constant flashbacks, visions, and even text on the screen. I usually appreciate his camera work and fast edit style in other films but in this case, it is overblown and really distracts from the story and film itself. Amazing acting, plot, and ending, The climatic end will leave you in tears, speechless and then some! When I first saw it I must of kept rewinding and watched the ending like 15 times! It's just beautiful to say the least! On top of that this is a grade-A action film with great acting. The bond the two main characters create set the stage for an amazing acion-packed film which leads up to a very emotional climatic ending which will be remembered for it's cinematic beauty, Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL?
