The voice-over is hysterical (too goofy). It makes the movie hard to take seriously, it is almost like a comedy instead of a drama. If it wasn't for the vicious murders and suspect torture, you would probably laugh. It is still worth seeing. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I thought this was a good movie, with a different style that Korean films are known for. The director somehow managed to make an entertaining and funny movie, all while they are chasing a rapist/serial killer. The struggle of these small-town detectives, trying so hard to catch this guy, really got me involved.
A real range of emotions as the director angers you, disgusts you, and makes you laugh at the same time.
"Come on, just tell us you did it and we'll stop."

Read More As a rule, I don't like "serial killer" movies and yet I recommend MEMORIES OF MURDER most highly. If you're a "normal" serial killer film fan (and, yes, I would include "Silence of the Lambs" in that genre), you may want to avoid this one because it does things and goes places that are surprising and disturbing in unusual ways. Korean films have the reputation of changing their mood on a dime--provoking shock, laughter, sadness and back again within the same scene. That happens here, but even more unusual I think, is the way this film get under your skin, just as the situation gets under the skin of the film's protagonists--four detectives (two small town hicks, one city boy and their boss) who try to solve the case. Their methods (especially those of the hicks) are horrendous--torture, false confessions--and yet slowly you understand that their hearts are in the right place--for all this good it does anyone. This is definitely worth a rent. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More I never watch foreign movies dubbed in English as it always sounds silly. If you can read and you have passed the 8th grade than you would have no problem reading the subtitles. It is tragic that this movie is based on true events and it shows the ignorance of the Korean police department. Highly recommended for being a horror and at times a silly movie Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The detectives acted like a bunch of silly, out of control, teenagers. Even the thoughtful one who seemed to be destined to solve the case. It might have been worth it to sit through this poor excuse for a film if they had at least tied up the loose ends before the credits rolled. No such luck. The audience is left to its own resources in the end. Don't waste your time! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
