Cut are 3 minutes of nudity and possibly a bit of the scene following the female lead's deflowering (the blood-smearing part). Read More Before viewing the film watch the Directors comments, then you may begin to understand what he is doing. It's all about the riots in France in 1968, with a 60's Sex drugs and movies theme. Read More This is at its simplest form, a movie about three kids, coming to age, in France, during riots and rebellion in the streets. Not only have these kids been basically abandoned by their parents and find themselves making all their own decisions, both morally and physically, but they have also lost the entire film/cinema industry....which has been their virtual "parent" as they've grown up. These kids live a sort of fantasy, ultra-dramatic life without any responsibilities and do a lot of sexual experimentation and re-acting of all the films they've seen in their young lives. No, it is about 3 adolescents living in France in 1968 at a time of war, freedom of expression, students' rights.... These characters live ... Read More This film is not just about meaningless sex and nudity. No, it is about 3 adolescents living in France in 1968 at a time of war, freedom of expression, students' rights.... These characters live through films, a life of fiction, as a way to escape the turmoil that's happening in the world. Therefore, sex can be seen as an escape as well (it was the 60s after all). Read More i heard talk, talk, talk and review after review of how great and fantastic this movie was. The plot had such hope, such dreams only to be shattered by, "What the hell is going on here?" Don't get me wrong-- i have nothing against nudity, incest, rape, the French, but when you just kind of lump it all together and decide to film it, you've got to expect a few raised eyebrows.
All-in-all-- good idea, just not well executed. i think Michael Pitt will be better off either do soft cable porn or perhaps be in the next "Scarey Movie."
