This movie made me feel like a kid again. A very uplifting look at what is important in life. Success is not measured by your bank account or status at the work place. Bad people do win, but the lesson from this movie is "SO WHAT". Who cares that people cheat and get away with it. The only thing that matters, is that you be true to yourself. Message received!!! This was a take off of Tom Hanks' "Big". That said, if you're looking for a romantic comedy without the raunchy sex scenes, this is a good one. It's a family movie. Being a big George A. Romero fan, it would have been a bit better if at the end she would have turned into a zombie and killed everyone. Well, I guess not all movies can have zombies. Read More This was a cute film, but the pre-teen scenes were painful to watch. It seems unlikely that a person with the emotional/mental development of a 13-yr old would be able to do even the basic things to get along in society that the 30-yr. old Jenna does. And what about little things like money? Somehow, she's able to pay taxi drivers, eat in restaurants, and buy clothes without visibly managing her money.
Ms. Garner does play a 13-yr old in an adult's body beautifully--she vividly expresses confusion, fear, wonder, curiosity, naivete, excitement--all the things it would be natural to feel if one had experienced such a life-changing event.
The overall message of the film was not helpful. We don't get "do-overs," as the 13-yr old Jenna does in the film. Wouldn't it be nice to sprinkle some "wishing dust" and be able to go back and change the biggest mistake of our lives. But we can't. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

I liked Gigli better! The film lacks a sound plot and Jenifer Garner is just down right annoying not to say not a bit funny. The movie trys to be a rip off of "Big" but can't hold a candle to the Tom Hanks classic. The brags of being the best romantic comedy of the year. 13 Going On 30 is not funny, not romantic, and certainly not the best romantic comedy of the year. Jenifer Garner bombs again as a leading lady. She should stick to Alias and stay away from feature films. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
