An ordinary lawman goes outside the law to carry out his own brand of justice in this dark-themed thriller. Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) is an FBI agent who deeply loves his wife and son, but is also strongly devoted to his work. Castle's investigation of a powerful crime cartel leads to a gunfight which claims the life of a young boy, whose father is underworld kingpin Howard Saint (John Travolta). Furious and eager for revenge, Saint arranges for Castle and his family to be murdered in retaliation. However, while Castle's wife and son are killed, he somehow survives, even though he's believed to have perished. Bent on stopping Saint once and for all, Castle remakes himself as The Punisher, a ruthless and heavily armed killing machine who will not rest until Saint and his crew have been wiped clean from the Earth. Super movie. Typical Marvel Comics, lots of violence and some humor. I hadn't heard of this movie before, don't know how I missed it, but sure glad I watched it.

Surprise......I cant believe so many people gave this movie poor reviews.....did they acually see this movie????? The Punisher is a great movie about a father who goes after the bad guys after they wipe out his whole family, a lot of action. If you like this movie you will like Charles Bronson in the Death Wish movies.

Definitely worth watching. Yes, it is predictable and not believable, as is the case with most movies like this, no vigilante would get that far in the real world. Still very entertaining, action packed, lots of violence (so don't watch it if violence bothers you). Pay attention at the beginning or you might miss and important moment. It's too bad the real world bad guys don't face similar justice, the world would probably be a better place.

This is a pathetic adaptation of The Punisher comics. The film is so badly made that at times it resembles an 80's B movie. The acting and directing are cheesy and the action sequences and dialogue are poor, lazy, and dull. Also, the comical sequences are pathetic excuses for comic relief and have no place in a film that is trying to have a dark, morbid theme. There are so many things wrong with this film that create a dissapointment and emberassment of an interesting comic book character.

I don't understand why no one can Translate The Punisher into a decent flick. It has everything needed for a sick action movie, but first we get Dolph, now this. Awful dialogue, bad character development, OK action scenes, corny ending. Not to mention, it barely stays true to the comic. I wouldn't suggest watching this.
