Watch this film and you will understand why painters choose their subjects. Cinematography, production, acting, script--all wonderful. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Why did I always put it back on the shelf? I loved the movie ( I have always loved the painting itself). The pace and the period details were just incredible. Scarlett Johansson will be an actress to watch for years and years to come. The acting by all the characters right down to the smallest role was superb! Kudo's to Peter Webber for bringing us this jewel. Job well done! Don't miss this movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The ending great! He had to face the challenge of this young girls infatuation with him with much struggle, but integrity prevailed. The gift at the end let's her know that he thought of her. The girl stood outside his door, breathing heavily, desiring to come in, while he sat, wanting her to come in, but showing great dignity by not allowing it to happen. The struggle there was perfectly portrayed. Had he invited her in, it would have been the ruin of them both. People will not be disappointed in this movie, unless you want him to commit. Even though his wife was so ugly and jealous he loved her and it showed. This was an excellent portrayal, and of course, Colin Firth is perfect in every way! My husband did not like the movie. He said it was a little slow for him, but if you like era movies, you'll not be disappointed. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Rarely does a film please me enough that I would even take time out of my day to write a review; this one deserves the best I can write. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The storyline is boring and the only good thing about the movie is the scenery. Why bother casting Scarlett Johanson in this? Any female actress could have done her part which consists of about 100 words at best. A "critics" movie. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
