Read MoreI heard about this movie from a friend and was not to keen on watching it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is a very good movie. Scarlett Johansson is wonderful, as is Colin Firth as Vermeer. Watching this movie made me want to know more about the artist Vermeer. Definately a must see, especially if you like art! I especially liked the depiction of life in the 17th century, and the relationship between the servant class and their employers.
I did feel they could have spent more time building Scarlett Johannsson's character before she began her employment in Vermeer's home.

Read MoreI can understand that for some people this historical fiction is way too slow, and that there is no big climax to satisfy the emotional rollercoaster people. However it is a very nice sensitive piece with good casting and good acting. Beautiful historical set too. Scarlet Johansson was perfect for this role and I've been her fan since Ghost World. I love the painting. The movie...well, it was rather disjointed and a bit slow in places. The ending was apparently just where they decided to stop. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

my wife did not like it so much, but I thought it was very good. I really liked Scarlett Johansen. The directing has some very subtle emotions performed via facial expressions. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
