This pitiful excuse for a cash cow isn't. It was boring, the story was insipid, the scenes were tired and setup badly (a clothesline laundry scene? really? give me a break). Jessica Biel was, as expected, awful and just cashing in on her girl-of-the-moment train.
You are not allowed to call yourself a horror fan and like this movie more than the original. At all.
If you have never seen the original film, I cannot recommend it highly enough. Easily among the top 5 horror movies of all time.
These horror remakes are, nearly without exception, all terrible and are nothing other than an excuse for greedy studios to bilk money from the movie going public since horror movies almost always make money. They don't even bother to come up with anything original, just badly rehash classic horror films and "hollywood" them up. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I'm a movie buff and horror is my choice. This version had more profanity which I think lowered the quality of the movie. If they took out the profanity, half of the movie would be gone. The ... This was a fun time to share with my 14-year old grandaughter. We had a great time. Loved the idea of an oldie not redone in a modern time period. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

The family is not as crazy as the first four which I also did not mind. But what let it down was the gore. I thought this would be an absolute gore-fest but it was not. I said in TCMIII that more chainsaw movies should be suspenseful with less gore but this one was not even suspenseful. One scene might be painful to watch with the salt block.
